Weddings on the beach are growing in popularity. They are much easier to plan - nature does all the decorating for you so there isn't a lot of work to do before hand. Beach wedding dresses run the gamut from absolutely simple, to fabulously stunning. What all beach wedding dresses have in common, however, is that they tend to be much simpler and less expensive than their church wedding counterparts.
When choosing a dress for your beach nuptials, first decide on a length. Long dresses are nice, but remember if if reaches the ground it will trail in the sand and water. While this may be alright with you, a tea length dress or one that falls a few inches short of the ground will look very nice as well. A sleek style or a more hippie/bohemian style empire waist are both winners for beach wedding dresses. The choice is up to you whether you prefer a more modern, stylized look or the soft, romantic femininity of the empire style.
Beach wedding dresses should minimize layers and puffiness. The beach tends to be a lot warmer than an air conditioned church. Natural fabrics such as cotton are your best bet as they breathe well and you won't have problems with sweating. Avoid heavy embroidery and bead-work as these can add a significant amount of weight to the dress and mean your body heats up more while wearing it.
While a wedding dress made for the beach does tend to be more casual than other gowns, this does not mean it needs to be any less elegant. Designers are savvy to to the changing times and tastes of the modern bride. Whether you are getting married in the spring or the winter on your dream beach, shop around until you find that perfect dress which embodies your style and sets you as the centerpiece of the most romantic beach wedding ever.
